The Governor of Warrap State Kuol Muor Muor is set to address on Friday the two warring communities of Luacjang and Akok at a peace rally to resolve their long-running conflict in Tonj East County.
On Thursday, William Wol Mayom, the Warrap State Minister of Information and Communication confirmed that the peace rally is expected to find an amicable solution to the recurrent violence.
“We shall bring all the conflicting communities together at the county headquarters, Romic where His Excellency, Governor Kuol Muor Muor will address all the communities of Tonj East,” said Mayom in a statement.
Governor Muor on Tuesday dispatched a peace team led by Peter Matem Yak, the State Security Advisor to prepare the peace rally.
The peace delegation led by Matemleft for Romic and the delegation led by Madit Abhiik, the Minister of Peacebuilding headed to Ngapagok.
The cycle of revenge killings in Tonj East County has so far claimed 21 lives with the majority being women and children.
