Juba County headquarters relocated to fight land grabbing in Lado Payam

The headquarters of Juba County has been relocated from Luri Payam to Lado Payam in a bid to deal with rampant cases of land grabbing in the area, said Gerald Francis, Acting Minister of information for Central Equatoria State on Tuesday

He said that the decision was approved by Emmanuel Tete Ezbon Simon, the Commissioner of Juba County.

“Our Commissioner of Juba County has been instructed to move the headquarters to Lado payam, where massive land grabbing is taking place, as we are talking our Commissioner is already there, his presence in the area will bring this issue to an end,” said Francis while briefing journalists in Juba.

The decision to transfer the County headquarters came during a security meeting chaired by Paulino Lukudu Obede, the Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State.

Francis disclosed that 9 cases of sudden deaths including suicide, theft of motorcycles at gunpoint, and as well as hijacking of cars have been registered in the State, adding that authorities are working to apprehend suspects.

He said that the security committee recommended the need to revisit previous resolutions reached with neighboring Moyo and Yumbe districts in Uganda.

Francis emphasized the need to reactivate joint security patrols along the South Sudan-Uganda border.

He revealed that cases of land grabbing are rife in the Amadi suburb located along Juba-Yei road, adding that the State government is closely monitoring the situation.

“The big problem is the usual land grabbing that is disturbing us up to now, this has been ongoing for quite long but the government is doing its best to bring this to an end, we urge our citizens not to panic,” said Francis.
