The transitional unity government is banking on the digitization of all institutional service-providing agencies to improve revenue collection and service delivery.
Deputy Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Jacob Maiju Korok said on Monday that digitization of state institutions will not only improve revenue collection but also efficiency across all government institutions.
“Currently we are very proud to be offering government services online such as e-visa service, custom services, e-tax service, and others, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) is now able to monitor some of its revenue collection online in a transparent manner,” said Korok during the celebration of the 2024 International Youth Day in Juba.
Korok said that the government is committed to working with development partners to provide high-quality digital services.
He revealed that the World Bank has extended grants to the government to develop various pillars of the digital economy including infrastructure, digital skills, and financial management platforms.
Korok noted that this will accelerate internet broadband services across the country when fully developed.
He disclosed that they have registered significant development in ICT sector, adding that all the three mobile operators have launched Fourth Generation Network (4G) leading to improved internet speed.
“Our ministry is developing a digital roadmap, laws, and regulations to create an environment that will enable our youth to develop digital skills, create innovation hubs, increase coverage and access to digital services,” said Korok.
