New police spokesman calls for close collaboration with civilians

The new spokesperson for the South Sudan National Police Services Lt.Col John Kassara Koang Nhial on Wednesday assumed office at a ceremony organized at the Buluk police headquarters.

“We need to know that security is work for all of us, therefore to protect our citizens, we need collaborative work in terms of information sharing between citizens and the national police services,” said Koang.

Brig. Gen James Dak Karlo, the Deputy Spokesman for the police who also doubles as the head of the police special protection unit, said they will work to eradicate sexual gender-based violence, gender-based violence, and early marriage.

Maj. Gen Daniel Justin Buolo, the outgoing former police spokesman said that as the head of community policing, he will continue cooperating with the new police spokesperson.

“The leadership of the national police has made changes, transferring senior officers in States and Directorates in the headquarters, I was transferred as director of community policing from a directorate of moral orientation,” said Buolo.

Koang replaces Maj. Gen Daniel Justice Buolo who had served since 2018.
