Youth in Unity State have been urged to promote peace and unity in the State.
This was revealed on Tuesday by the director general for the State ministry of peacebuilding Peter Par Tap during a peace dialogue organized by Action for conflict Resolution (ACR) a local NGO.
“In any country youth are the future leaders and they have significant roles in promoting peace and unity, right after this dialogue we expect you to bring positive changes in Unity State,” said Tap during the peace dialogue held in Bentiu town.
The dialogue was attended by 45 youth and members of the State transitional legislative assembly, and peace commission.
Tap promised that the ministry of peacebuilding will work hard to build the capacity of youth to enable them to promote peace initiatives at the grassroots level.
The dialogue encouraged youth to use non-violent action to promote peace in the State.
Mose Stephen, Action for conflict Resolution project officer pledged to continue to organize more dialogue on peace and reconciliation in the State.
“After this dialogue go home and denounce violence in your community, use your power as youth to promote peace in Unity State,” said Stephen.
Action for Conflict Resolution has conducted a series of community peace dialogues in Bentiu town of Unity State aimed to empower women and youth on peace and reconciliation.
