The Commissioner of Juba County Emmanuel Tete Ezbon on Wednesday issued a local order banning street vendors from operating business along busy roads.
The order listed Kubiri Haboba and other busy roads as no go areas for street vendors.
“I do hereby issue a ban of any business activities along the main roads in Juba County and Kubiri Haboba, any business person is not allowed to put goods outside of the shop,” said Ezbon in a statement.
He noted that the move is intended to ease traffic and maintaining clean environment.
Ezbon also revealed that improper garbage disposal has become widespread leading to traffic congestion, adding that street vendors are not allowed to dump waste or sell their goods on the along roads.
“Washing of vehicles along main roads in Juba County is also banned, no more dumping of garbage on roads after the collection of garbage, any person that fails to comply will have his goods confiscated,” he said.
