Bari community urged to work for peace, unity

The Commissioner of Juba County Emmanuel Tete Ezbon has urged the Bari community of Central Equatoria State to work together for unity and peace.

“My message is a call for unity of the Bari community, we need to stop all forms of conflicts, and we see people killed over issues of land. We need to provide services to the people,” said Tete on Sunday during the memorial prayers held in Luri of the late paramount chief Denis Daramaollo who passed on in 2017.

Lili Kafuki Paul, the State Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, said unity among the Bari community will address some of the key challenges such as insecurity and improve service delivery across the State.

“As government we are asking for unity of the people because without this security and services will not be realized,” said Kafuki.

Cardinal Stephen Ameyu Martin Mullah, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba said communities are places where people express traditional ways of dancing which is a source of enlistment.

“A community of the Bari people should be a community that receives everybody and should not be a divided community, when we come to party, we come as people who have to submit to the community,” said Mullah.

He warned that building a strong community to defend itself against foreign influences requires respect and submission to traditional authority.
