President Salva Kiir will on July 8th inaugurate the newly completed headquarter for the Bank of South Sudan as the country gears up to celebrate it’s 13th independence Day anniversary on July 9.
James Alic Garang, the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan noted that the 12-floor building with modern recreational facility and conference center will help accelerate South Sudan’s journey to meet key monetary requirements under the East African Community (EAC).
“We are very pleased to hear that this headquarter is ready for inauguration by His Excellency the President, and given the fact that the Independence Day anniversary is around the corner, we have decided to host the President to inaugurate this magnificent building on the 8th of July,” Alic told journalists on Friday during the tour of the new headquarter in Khor Williang suburb of Juba.
Alic thanked Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Limited (SDHS) and the management and the staff of the Bank of South Sudan for working collectively to ensure the building is completed ahead of time.
The magnificent towering building has changed the face of Juba and Khor Williang, as businesses have sprouted along the street where the new headquarter of the central bank sits.
The plan to construct the headquarter was mooted by Alic’s predecessors and he has been the man to implement it.
The construction commenced in February 2022, and the management of the central bank tasked the contractor to complete work by June this year.
