Warrap State officials have developed migratory routes for people that could be affected during the expected heavy floods in the State.
William Wol Mayom, the State Minister for Information revealed in a statement on Thursday that they have prepared a holistic contingency Action Plan including early warning messages to guide people ahead of the floods.
Mayom said the contingency action plan was agreed upon at a meeting on Tuesday chaired by Aluel Garang Garang, the Acting Governor of Warrap State which was also attended by humanitarian organizations.
“The meeting highlights action already taken by the state government and other partners on the preparedness and mitigation measures and response to the looming flooding in Warrap State,” he said.
Mayom also disclosed that fundraising campaign is underway to assist those affected by floods, adding that the campaign is being coordinated with development partners.
He revealed that the contingency action plan also seeks to provide weather updates to the public.
Warrap State is among the flood-prone states in the country.
