Police in Aweil East County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state have detained a man who killed his father after the two disagreed on the sale of family cows.
Ayong Longar Ayok , the boma administrator of Gueng-kou area, said Monday the 29-year-old suspect had developed misunderstanding with his deceased father over selling cows.
The suspect is alleged to have slit his father’s throat and fled to bush on Sunday.
“We have information to corroborate and support the claim that he is the killer because he went away with one of the sandals of his father, and was found lying in the marsh locally known as (Tooch) near the village. As authorities we went with local police authorities and found him lying in the bush with a sandal of his father,” Ayok told The Juba Echo on Monday.
The suspect is a South Sudan People’s Defense Force soldier based in Yei River County.
He is also alleged to have been intoxicated with marijuana by the time he committed the crime.
