Dozens of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in opposition (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President Riek Machar have defected in Aweil North County to the SPLM.
This was revealed in a statement issued on the official Facebook page of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state on Monday.
Tito Wol, who led the defectors said they will work hard to ensure reforms in the SPLM party which they quit for the SPLM-IO following outbreak of the December 2013 fighting.
The ceremony was witnessed by the deputy chairperson of SPLM in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state, William Anyuon Kuol and Kiir Chan Wol the Commissioner of Aweil North County.
Kuol welcomed the SPLM-IO members to their mother party, saying the SPLM is increasingly focused on service delivery despite the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
