A South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) soldier committed in Udhum payam of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state after marital dispute with his wife.
The deceased soldier identified as Dut Akuei was found on Wednesday hanging in the bush by residents and police.
Police said he had developed misunderstandings with his wife Ahok Akoon who is currently in police custody as investigations go on.
The deputy payam administrator of Udhum Payam, James Garang told Juba Echo on Thursday that they were alerted by villagers who found the deceased in the bush.
Garang said Akuei had misunderstanding with his wife as he prepared to head for work at Wunyiik military barracks where his colleagues were receiving salaries.
Garang said police decided to detain his wife after learning of her husband’s death.
He appealed to the public to refrain from committing suicide due to family disputes.
“I would like to tell the public that we need to exercise restraint in our homesteads. If you have a problem with your partner or neighbor just call another person who is God-fearing or having sound mind to mediate the issue,” Garang.
