The newly appointed Mayoress of Juba city council Flora Gabriel has pledged to keep the city clean and green during her unveiling in Juba.
“We will be working together in contributing and realizing our state of keeping Juba city clean and green,” Gabriel told journalists on Saturday during swearing in ceremony at Central Equatoria state Secretariat in Juba.
The Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony in a gubernatorial decree made changes within the Juba city council.
Flora Gabriel replaces Acting Mayor Emmanuel Khamis who was recently relieved after assaulting a female vendor at Seven Day Roundabout.
Thiik Thiik Mayardit has bounced back as second deputy mayor for social services and Emmanuel Juma Diyo as third deputy mayor for environment and waste management.
The Governor of Central Equatoria state warned Juba city council over dumping of waste on the roadsides around Juba.
“Your mission is keeping hygiene, there is a behavior of dumping of waste on the roadside and yet Juba is the image of the country. We have to stop dumping of waste on the roadsides,” Anthony said.
