A corpse of a man was discovered in a dense forest on Thursday in Madhol payam of Aweil East County in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
Angelo Anguei Wieu, the police criminal investigation officer in Madhol payam told the Juba Echo that the decomposing body of the unidentified man was found by herders who then tipped off the community.
He said the dead man is believed to be in his late 40’s.
Anguei revealed the deceased is believed to have fallen down from a tree as his clothes and the mosquito net was seen hanging on a trunk of a tree.
“I and the police director for Madhol payam, Bol Dhel rushed to a forest in Hong-akol-Achot. The body was discovered wrapped in a plastic bag and besides it were a walking stick, tobacco container and a mosquito net hanging on a trunk of a tree,” he said.
Anguei noted that last year a woman a decomposing corpse of a woman was found in the same area.
He appealed to the community to help police identify the deceased whose belongings are still in police custody.
“I want to tell the public to come to us so that they check his remaining materials to help in identifying the deceased who his believed to have committed suicide,” Anguei said.
