South Sudanese renowned musician Emmanuel Jal Joak Gatwech, has provided a fleet of buses under his charity to evacuate returnees who are displaced amid ongoing fighting in neighboring Sudan.
Gil Deng Nyang, the coordinator and co- founder of Choose organization, said the evacuation of returnees to Unity State will continue until the conflict in Sudan ends.
“We have eight buses that will transport returnees from Rotriah North of Unity State to Bentiu town, and again we have hired eight Lorries from Sudan’s Kosti to Panakuach border,” Nyang told Juba Echo on Wednesday during the launch of the service in Bentiu town.
The Unity State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission said it recorded 30,824 returnees who recently arrived in Rotriah Payam and Nyaruop Port since the eruption of conflict in Khartoum on April 15.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), South Sudan is currently hosting more than 150,000 returnees and refugees from Sudan.
