The head of the Commission for Refugees Affairs, Bol John Akot revealed on Tuesday plans to evacuate Sudanese refugees in Upper Nile State to Aweil area of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
The Deputy Governor for Northern Bahr El Ghazal, Tong Chol Ayat said that they held meeting with the visiting team from the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to assess the situation of the refugees stationed in Wadwill and also to secure more land in the state to help resettle refugees from Upper Nile State.
“We have listened to them (UNHCR) and they said that they want to come and assess the refugees in Wadwill, and their aim is to evaluate refugees in Jam-Jam, Maban and Yida of Upper Nile State,” Chol told Juba Echo.
Chol said they are proposing refugees from other places to be evacuated to especially Wadwil area of Aweil because of stable security.
