Jagei community association of Koch County living in Bentiu internally displaced persons (IDP) camp have mobilized over 6 million South Sudanese Pounds to South Sudanese Pounds to help transport people stranded amid ongoing fighting in Sudan.
“The money we have mobilized will be sent to Sudan to transport vulnerable families, we have someone to coordinate and will facilitate the coming of these extremely vulnerable families to return back to Unity State,” Riek Chap Chany Teny, the Chairperson of Jagei community association in Bentiu IDP camp told Juba Echo on Saturday.
The fundraising ceremony held in Bentiu IDPs camp mobilized 6,153,500 SSP.
Nhial Kam Both, Chairperson for HIV/AIDs Commission in Unity State called for Peace and unity among IDPs.
“I encourage you to remain united in peace and unity,” Both said.
Both also urged IDPs to stare away from divisions along political party affiliations.
Last week Jikany community association in Bentiu IDP camp organized fundraising to provide food items and other necessities to returnees who have arrived in Bentiu IDP camp.
South Sudan is currently hosting more than 149,000 returnees and refugees who fled conflict in neighboring Sudan since April 15.
