The Vice president of Service Cluster Hussein Abdellbagi Akol has promised to oversee the construct ion of 50 water points known locally as seriic to provide safe water to residents in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
“When I came last year, I learnt that a lot of problems are happening especially on hunger, and many people have arable land which is very fertile but situated in the far areas of the border but without good water points,” Akol told The Juba Echo in Aweil town recently.
Akol said that people are migrating from their homes due to shortage of water to support farming activities.
He disclosed that the water points are going to be delivered to people in highland areas in order for them to grow food.
Akol said that President Salva Kiir approved construction of the water yards in areas with agricultural potential bordering Warrap State, Abyei, Akon and Wau respectively.
He disclosed that four of the water installation machines have already been delivered in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
Akol said the water points will be drilled during the dry season to avoid work being affected by the coming rainy season.
