The rehabilitation of the flood affected road from Bentiu to Southern parts of Unity State has commenced.
Gatwech Biphal, State Minister of Transport said that work on the road that was cut off by floods since 2021 started Friday at Guit junction.
“We have contracted Amars Construction Company to construct the state main road linking to Koch, Tharjiath and Leer counties,” he told The Juba Echo in Bentiu town.
“We gave two months to complete the road construction up to Leer because the road is cut off by floods,” added Biphal.
The flooded road has made it difficult for humanitarian agencies to transport food aid to needy people in Southern unity.
“The purpose of this road construction is to facilitate smooth movement of civilians and rescue needy people from hunger, it also reduces food prices, and the state government will have access to all southern unity,” said Biphal.
