Health staffs in Aweil hospital of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State are desperate for blood donors as the blood bank has been depleted.
Dut Deng Garang, a nurse in the Aweil hospital said they are struggling to find enough blood to help treat accident victims.
He told The Juba Echo on Thursday in Aweil town that several accident victims in need of blood are turning up only to die due to lack of blood.
Garang also disclosed that pregnant mothers with anemic conditions are also desperate for blood leaving the entire management of the hospital clueless.
“Anyone who donates blood is a hero or heroine,” said Garang.
He encouraged the community to turn up and donate blood to save lives.
Garang noted that some people are afraid of donating blood based on fears that they could collapse to death.
The hospital had in the past been relying heavily on UN peacekeepers to donate blood.
