The Council of Ministries on Friday approved a new salary structure for civil servants which will match with the current market demands.
The Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services Michael Makuei Lueth, said cabinet approved the new salary structure after listening to the presentation from the Minister of Finance and Planning Dier Tong.
“We listen on the 6 member committee report on the new salary structure increment, this new salary structure was presented before the cabinet, and cabinet decided to pass it to the economic cluster and the cluster decided to set up 6- member committee to study and come up with recommendation on how best this increment could be implemented,” he told journalists in Juba.
Makuei said cabinet directed the Minister of Finance and Planning to immediately prepare the supplementary budget on the new salary structure, and present it to cabinet so that it goes to parliament for approval.
He said the new salary structure will be covered in the supplementary budget because it is not reflected in this year’s fiscal budget that was recently passed.
