Unity state governor Joseph Nguen Monytuil on Tuesday appointed unity state police director general Bol Mayak as acting commissioner for Mayom county.
The appointment follows the death of Mayom commissioner Chuol Gatluak.
“Police director general Bol Mayak was appointed by unity state governor Monytuil to fill the vacuum after the death of Commissioner Chuol Gatluak,” said Puot Thik Bakuony, the Unity Governor’s Press secretary in an interview with Juba Echo in Bentiu town of Unity State.
Bakuony said that Mayak was appointed to promote peace and unity in Mayom County.
Former Mayom County Commissioner Gatluak was killed on 22nd July allegedly by the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A) rebels.
The state government ordered executions on 7 August of captured soldiers of SSPM/A suspected of killing Gatluak.
