Calm has returned to Nimule town of Magwi county in south Sudan’s eastern Equatoria state after government deployed forces to restrain calm following intensified violence
On Saturday 9th July 2022, unknown gunmen abducted 3 people, slaughtered two of them while walking away with 150 goats
Again, on Monday, the 11th July 2022, the Anzara boma chief in Nimule payam was gunned down during a community meeting sparking public outcry that led to demonstration and intensifying violence in the bordering town
Maj Akol Amet Amet the SSPDF commander in Nimule told Juba Echo that the situation has completely return to normal
“we have made deployment of forces in all corners because there are criminals burning houses at night so every area we are deploying forces there to secure people’s houses their aim in the area is to bring down the naggers who are burning houses at night and day that is why we deployed forces for their protection “, Major Akol said
Eastern Equatoria state governor Louis Lobong Lojore during the press release in Torit on Tuesday says government is doing all it can to bring the culprits to book
“ We know that these provocations are aimed at diverting our goal-oriented attention of transforming our state into becoming a peace hub and investment destination in the republic of South Sudan. We will remain committed to walking the path of peace and nation building”, he said
