The Directorate for Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport and Immigration is considering to kick start mass provision of nationality to South Sudanese above 18 years.
Lt.Gen Atem Marol Biar, the Director General for Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport and Immigration confirmed this Friday before journalists in Juba.
“We are going to make our people get IDs, we want anybody above 18 years to have nationality certificate,” Biar revealed on his arrival from Rabat in Juba.
Biar represented South Sudan at the recent conference for African Identity held in the Moroccan capital.
“We have mobile kits in states, we are making enrollment in states but there is lack of awareness, us sitting down to wait for people to come for IDs will not work,” he disclosed.
Biar said they will soon be moving around the country sensitizing people on the importance of having nationality certificates.
“We will make sure that everybody above 18 years is given nationality certificate by 2030,” he said.
