The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party on Tuesday visited orphans at Stone International Church where it’s senior cadres vowed to continue supporting thousands of orphans.
Peter Lam Both, the SPLM -Interim Secretary General, said that one of the main priorities of his party led by President Salva Kiir is to take care of vulnerable South Sudanese children.
“It’s our responsibility as SPLM to take care of you (orphans), we will stand with these children who are living in this orphanage center by providing whatever things they are lacking,” Both said.
The center is hosting about 1,300 children and homeless widows, and its target within the next two years is to have around 5,000 homeless children.
“We will stand with you, I am happy with what Prophet Peter AD has done by establishing this center, the work he did is very important and we as SPLM secretariat will support these children with whatever thing we have,” Both disclosed.
Emmanuel Adil Anthony, the Governor of Central Equatoria State promised to establish health clinic in the center to treat sick orphans.
Adil also promised to send medical team comprising of doctors and nurses to provide health services to the orphanage.
“We will not forget you, SPLM knows the situation you are in, I am appreciating the Prophet who established this center to take care of these children, we as government will be standing with you and that is the reason we came here,” Adil said.
Samuel Wel Maciek, the Representative of the Orphanage Organizing Committee, revealed that some of these orphans are children of fallen soldiers who fought during the liberation wars.
Adding that other children lost their parents during the 2013- 2018 conflict.
“Let us support them in areas of accommodation, food, education and health, If we do not support these vulnerable orphans we should know our own children shall suffer the same fate when we shall be no more,” Maciek said.
Nyawal Diang, one of the orphans who spoke during the visit by the SPLM top honchos, said that all children from the 64 ethnic communities of South Sudan are living in unity and harmony at the orphanage.
Gatjang Khor Deng, who lost his father during conflict in 2014, said that they need scholastic materials like textbooks, exercise books, and desks from the government and well-wishers.
Sarah Samson, said that since she lost her father during the 2016 conflict she lacked school fees and food.
Adding that her life has since been transformed after being taken in by the management of Stone International Church that oversees the orphans.
Samson appealed to the government to build for them health center within the orphanage.
“You know we are very far from town and we don’t have health clinic here, if somebody fell sick here it’s difficult to go to hospital, the Prophet tried his best with his little resources to take us to hospital, but it’s really difficult for him to do as you have seen our number is big,” Samson pleaded for help from the SPLM.
“We need you to also construct for us latrines such that we have good sanitation in this orphanage center,” she added.
Prophet Peter A.D of Stone International Church that takes care of the orphans, promised to keep serving the people of South Sudan despite enormous challenges he and his team endure every day to keep these orphans.
He urged the SPLM leadership to work with him to support vulnerable people in the country.
